This is an update on today’s chemo
experience. I apologize a head of time if this email seems a little scattered.
It was a doozy of a day!
The port did need to be de clotted,
but it only took one application. Usually I have to have two applications and
have it sit in there for two hrs before there’s any kind of success I with
it.
I was doing my Bible reading today
and was rereading the book of Job from the reading schedule. It talked about Job
expressing that all he had ever feared had come to pass. I thought to myself,
“That’s exactly what satan does. He takes what I fear the most and uses it
against me in my life.” God allowed satan to “touch” Job and his life. Job was
a righteous man that had taken stands and stood for God. Job’s friends even
reminded him of that. Job was under spiritual attack. Mom and I talked about it and had a little mini
bible study because of that passage. But God was in complete control of the
situation and satan. Satan would love nothing better than for Job or me to curse
God and turn bitter. But God is my refuge and strength a very present help in
time of trouble. Sometimes He calms the storm; sometimes He calms
me!
Two hours later my day was turned
upside! Everything I had feared was happening to me. I had the pre meds and my
body was handling them ok. Then they started the Taxol(chemo drug)! Within nine
minutes I was starting into anaphylactic shock. It all started with my ears
starting to burn and within a couple of minutes my breathing was labored and my
throat was closing off! They gave me high doses hydrocortizone and benadry, then
hooked me to oxygen. SCARY!!! Mom was praying over me and softly crying. I was
coherent this time but loopy. I was able to communicate with the nurse and Dr.
what was wrong. The benadryl gave me a lot of pain and crazy legs. Mom rubbed my
feet and legs non-stop for over an hour. Amazingly, her arthritic hands aren’t
sore! That’s my God!
I am not angry or upset with the Dr.
for trying the taxol. God was in complete control; AS USUAL! Any less of a
reaction they would have tried to retry the drug today after thirty to sixty
min. Any greater reaction I could either be in the hospital or in heaven! I am
very grateful for all your prayers. You have had a part in such a good outcome,
that could have gone very bad. We were praying that if I wasn’t supposed to be
on Taxol, that God would make it clear. Well, He did!!!
I love You all!!! Thank you! We are
supposed to get a call from the Dr. telling us what our next plan of attack is.
I will let you all know; when I know.
You’re in my thoughts and prayers as
well!
